In this trailer from EVE you can already see some of the eve online spaceships. EVE is like World of Warcraft a MMOG a massive multiplayer online game, the difference is World of Warcraft is a MMORPG a Massively multiplayer online role-playing game. EVE is set in a science fiction setting and you can describe it as and alternate reality.

Players are the pilots of EVE online spaceships and in the game they are represented as avatars, both as a ship avatar and with a portrait that is created and personalized by the player. But the avatar stays a portrait it is not possible to exit your ship and explore planets or space stations.
