EVE Online Character Something Completely Different
Thursday, May 8th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedIn most Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) you can create and play with your own character or avatar. In EVE online your character is actually represented as a spaceship and there is a portrait of your EVE online character that can be completely customized.
In EVE online portraits of characters can be constructed with special software you first select race and gender and after that the software gives you the opportunity to morph or manipulate your facial features as well as preset hairstyles, skin tones, etc. The end result is your EVE online characters portrait and it will only be visible for other players on message boards and in-game chat channels. You can also give your EVE online character a unique name.
In other MMORPGs the characters play the game but your EVE online character is most of the time not seen, you will appear as gigantic spacecrafts that will give no view of the pilot portrait. The game environment of EVE online is in space. Your character is represented in-game via your spaceship. You can not exit your ship and walk around, explore planets or mill around in space stations. This is a big difference with other games like world of warcraft.
When you create your EVE online character you can select five attributes and starting skills this determines where your character game from. There is actually just one race in EVE online, the human race, but some have evolved and others have been genetically altered. You can choose from Amarr, Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar. Each race offers numerous variations in skills and abilities, as well as adhering to its own doctrine. You can read all about this on the official EVE online website. And you should do that before you make a choice. Who your EVE online character is going to be in the end is totally up to you, but you should remember that when it comes to selecting your attributes you need to think about what skills you want to work with later.
